The Rembrandt Spa #DiscoveryFriday

A spa day is always an absolute must and the Rembrandt delivered it beautifully!

A friend of mine and I had planned a little girly day for a while, to simply catch up and relax in a pool, a jacuzzi and have a massage, the Rembrandt in South Kensington was just the answer to our prayers.

A small spa that rests quietly in the basement of the hotel, it features a beautiful pool with columns and a fountain in the middle, a relaxation area, open gym, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. We got a twenty minute treatment, which was a massage and so completely relaxing. I really carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and need to very often have some help to relax them so this was PERFECT!

The beauty is that spas are slowly but surely becoming more accessible. We booked our afternoon with spabreaks.com and it cost us each Β£45, with free teas and coffees, treatment and full use of the spa for the whole day. It was great. Prices outside of London are even better and cheaper so it is definitely do-able to treat yourself to a relaxing afternoon once in a while.

So that is my little discovery for this week, let me know what you guys are getting up to.

Happy reading, writing and travelling!

Knebworth House, Jousting #DiscoveryFriday

Just a quickie today, for Father’s day a few weeks ago we decided to spend the day watching Medieval Jousting in the grounds of Knebworth House.

I personally love Knebworth House, a lavish Tudor home that was once the home of Victorian novelist Edward Bulwer Lytton. It brings great historic context to the area I live in and provides a host of cultural events throughout the year for all tastes! From an adventure playground and dinosaur trail for children, to visiting the house itself for all historians and lovers of the Victorian era, to events such as the jousting and even big rock festivals – Sonisphere has been held at the house’s grounds for a very long time.

It is a truly phenomenal venue and it is beautiful for a summer’s day celebration and family time.

So here is my little discovery for the week, a day to celebrate my wonderful father who I celebrate every day, and enjoy a picnic with my family in beautiful grounds with great unique entertainment.

Read more about Knebworth House and their events here.

Google Art #DiscoveryFriday

MyΒ beautiful man text me the other day in a frenzy saying ‘Google Deep Dream Generator’. I did so, uploaded an image and what I got was a whole new way of seeing what my lens has captured. They art is all about perception, that when people look at the clouds they see different things, psychologists do the same with ink blotch tests, and some people can’t make out constellations where was others see them straight away.

That is what Deep Dream Generator offers you, a chance to see what you haven’t seen before in images that you have captured yourself! So here are some samples of what I made on the website.

Please click the photos to see them bigger and compare!

I already love all my travelling photos as they let me revisit the places I have seen, but in this sample of my time in Mozambique – read all about it here – I now see these dream like fantasies that I can’t un-see and I love how artistic they are. I love how a simple images have become such a dreamlike reality.

I urge you to try it! Click here to visit the Deep Dream Generator.

Happy reading, writing and dream generating!

Langos #DiscoveryFriday

Another week, another Friday! I love this time of the week, when I get to go relax and invest some time into actually doing things that fulfil me aside from building a career. It is important to have various interests and explore these. However, Fridays are also a good chance for me to reflect on the wonderful things I have discovered!

So this is a short but oh so delicious discovery from Budapest… Langos!

Now this is exactly what it looks like, a sort of pizza, which is made of this deep fried dough that it then covered on a sauce made of natural yoghurt and garlic – seriously two of my favourite things – and then usually eaten just with cheese or you can add other things that you like. It is DELICIOUS! The best street food I have ever tasted, the Hungarians got it right… And we discovered it on our first night on a charming Easter market that was open late.

So I now leave you with these photos and you can go find a recipe because I have been trolling the internet for one.

Budapest #DiscoveryFriday

I am so excited to actually be posting for you guys from abroad on Good Friday! First of all Happy Easter and this one is going to be a short and quick one. Today I arrived to Budapest and have already walked a great part of the city just to get my bearings and establish where all the major sights are. The wander took me to this evening and I gladly got to see some iconic buildings all lit up! Oh I do love a bit of wanderlust and simply walking around gazing at the architecture and trying to read the signs in the local language. So today for a quick #DiscoveryFriday let me share with you guys this some quick images of this amazing city that I will be exploring for the next few days with my cousin!

Happy Easter, reading, writing and travelling!
